Discussion Points:
What an unexpectedly great film. A thrilling holiday game of cat-and-mouse with fantastic pacing and performances. Takes a simple concept, ramps it up to 11, embraces the absurdity, throws reason out the window, and delivers an absolutely riveting experience. Jaume Collet-Serra’s return to mid-budget action thrillers is long overdue and I’m so excited that this is such a strong showing. Taron Egerton effortlessly slots into an Everyman action hero whilst Jason Bateman is cold and calculating as a criminal whose calm demeanour is unsettling. Danielle Deadwyler is also great as a top cop investigating the case, and it’s fun seeing her in something less dramatic and more pulpy - she’s phenomenal. Easily one of the easiest films to recommend to people on streaming right now! This was just so entertaining and terrific!
