Hundreds of Beavers
"If you want to marry my daughter... YOU CAN’T… UNLESS… YOU BRING ME…HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS!"
Hilarious, inventive and crowd pleasing, Hundreds of Beavers is easily one of the greatest cinema going experiences I’ve ever had - a creative and chaotically comedic slapstick live action Looney Tune black and white love letter to old silent Hollywood with the most brilliant visual gags ever and a laugh to joke ratio and frequency that is unprecedented.
Discussion Points:
Wow! Just about the funniest, zaniest, looniest, craziest, most hilarious, most creative film I’ve ever seen. Destined to be a comedy cult classic and influence dozens of friend groups to make their own low budget live action Looney Tune-esque slapstick silent stories. Watching this with a live audience that was constantly cracking up made for a great gutbusting time. The originality is incredible, from the direction, the use of visual effects, the simple but clever costuming, the humble production aesthetics and the small but incredibly well-utilised cast. Director Mike Cheslik and star Ryland Brickson Cole Tews have together written and created something so funny, delightful, deranged and impressive that both captures elements of a bygone era of cinema, and yet feels fresh, new and innovative. Cannot wait to see more from them!
